Rideau Canal Festival

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the development and implementation of the marketing and communication strategies.

REPORTING: Reports to and works directly under the supervision of the CEO

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Development of a plan, which addresses critical issues in the marketing and communications area. The plan will set out objectives for each strategic area of the festival and outline plans for achieving those objectives. This plan will be developed in the context of the organization’s strategic and operating plan.
  • Develop a marketing strategy that effectively supports the Festival’s fundraising efforts.
  • Manage the production of communication tools and promotional material keeping in mind the fulfillment of the festival’s sponsorship and partnership agreements.
  • Develop and implement communications and media strategies that successfully deliver information and key messages to the public.
  • Develop and maintain a strong and productive relationship with both print, electronic and social media
  • Plan and oversee market research activities.
  • Ensure the development of advertising and promotional plans and manage the annual advertising and promotional budget.
  • Develop an internal communications plan to ensure that staff and volunteers are stimulated, motivated and guided to contribute fully to the realization of the Rideau Canal’s mission, goals and objectives.
  • Manage the use of external resources as they pertain to the marketing and communications function (e.g. advertising agency, printers, etc.)
  • Make decisions relative to the selection and supervision of Marketing and Communications staff.
  • Make presentations to the Board on Marketing and Communications strategies and activities.
  • Keep abreast of all trends in the industry.
  • Coordinate the Festival’s Annual Report production
  • Prepare an end-of-festival report and make recommendations for the next Festival
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
SKILLS REQUIRED:

·       Must have training or previous experience in marketing, communications, public relations
·       Must be able to meet deadlines, perform under pressure and delegate tasks
·       Must be computer literate
·       Bilingualism a definite asset
